Do you offer classes for beginners?

Yes. We offer beginner classes for kids and adults. No previous martial arts experience is required.

How many times a week should I attend?

We recommend that students in our kids and teens program attend class 2 to 3 times per week. For adults, we recommend at least 2 times a week.

What time are classes?

Generally, our kids (Tiger-Cub and Junior) classes are held in the late afternoon and our teen and adult classes are held in the evening.

At what age do children start classes?

Students may be enrolled into our Tiger-Cubs program, our early childhood martial arts program, at 4 years of age.

What do I wear for my first class?

We prefer that you wear sweats and t-shirt. Some students may have already received their training attire via membership enrollment or participation in our Starter Course Program.

How do I know which academy to attend?

Typically if you are west of Grand Parkway, you will attend Tiger-Rock Martial Arts of Katy South on Katy-Gaston Road; if you are east of Grand Parkway, you will attend Tiger-Rock Martial Arts of Katy on Mason Road. However, please contact us for more information and additional clarification.

Do you offer P.E. credit for junior high and high school students

Yes. Tiger-Rock Martial Arts of Katy and Katy South students that attend Katy ISD junior high and high schools may use their Tiger-Rock training as P.E. credit. Please consult with a Tiger-Rock representative for more details.

How long are classes?

Classes are roughly 30 minutes for 4 and 5 year olds, 45 minutes for 6 to 15 year olds, and anywhere from 45-60 minutes for adult program participants.

What type of martial arts training do you offer?

Tiger-Rock offers an integrated martial arts training program that is rooted in taekwondo, a Korean martial art form that is the most practiced martial art form in the world.

When do I start sparring?

When you advance to a Green Belt.

Is competition required?

You are not required to compete in our annual tournaments. However, tournament competition offers a unique learning opportunity that often goes above and beyond what you can learn in a typical lesson setting.
