Taekwondo
Taekwondo is the heart of our martial arts program in The Woodlands. This Korean traditional martial art form focuses on head-height kicks, jumping kicks, sidekicks, and strategic striking. Taekwondo is very popular around the world.
Adult training in Taekwondo helps build core strength, sharpen mental keenness, and is a great workout. With our constant kicking and striking drills, you will likely build leg and arm strength. This will result in you becoming stronger, faster, and healthier.

Improve your flexibility, stamina, and strength inside the Tiger-Rock dojo.
Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu
Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is a form of martial arts and combat sports that focuses on grappling and ground fighting. BJJ is constantly evolving since its development over a century ago. This form of MMA is currently very popular thanks to the exposure it receives from MMA promotions such as the UFC.
One of the ideas behind BJJ is a simple concept: an opponent can be overcome with proper technique and leverage with takedowns and ground fighting. In BJJ, things such as strength and size disparity are not as relevant. To put it simply, a strong and heavy opponent can be dominated by a smaller opponent using the right techniques. The weaker person can take them to the ground and apply things such as joint-locks and chokeholds. Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu has developed into a very popular form of self-defense.
Like all our martial arts training classes, BJJ classes will benefit your physical health and character building.
Ground Fighting
Unlike other forms of martial arts, BJJ is widely known for its emphasis on ground fighting rather than striking. Many of our lessons are designed to help trainees sharpen their ground fighting skills. BJJ is much more than just getting your opponent to the ground. With our help, you’ll learn what to do when you do go to the ground. Our highly-qualified and experienced instructors will teach students to use leverage in order to defeat their opponent on the ground.
Grappling
At Tiger-Rock, you’ll be taught how to properly control your opponent by using various grappling positions that will lead to a submission. The positions that we work with include side control, mount, back grab, closed guard, open guard, and half guard. When you apply these positions properly, you will eventually overpower your opponent.
Submission
There are two categories when it comes to submissions. The two categories are joint locks and chokeholds. When you train at Tiger Rock, you’ll learn how to apply submission techniques in both categories. The goal in BJJ is always to get your opponent to submit.

Tiger-Rock is here to help you on your martial arts journey!
Han Mu Do
Han Mu Do is actually Korean for The Korean Martial Way. This form of martial art focuses on balance. Han Mu Do incorporates various forms of Korean martial arts. Some of the disciplines incorporated in Han Mu Do are hapkido and taekwondo. This is a balanced fighting system designed to be versatile against other MMA styles. Han Mu Do is defensive in nature. The techniques in this system of MMA training encourage fluid and gentle movement.
The Han Mu Do classes at Tiger-Rock teach three different defensive principles.
See and Asses
When an attack is coming, see and assess the situation. According to what you see, you will then know what approach to take.
Stop the attack
There are different types of hard and soft blocks in Han Mu Do. These blocks are meant to be the initial defense against an incoming attack. These blocks can help evade an attack, escape the attack, or even escalate defenses.
Solve the situation
The defensive approach you use in a situation depends on the intensity that you will have to employ. There are many different resolutions to an attack. The attack may end in you escaping, or it may result in you exerting control via joint locks. If you find yourself in immediate danger, you will have to resort to kicking, striking, throws, joint locks, or weapons.
Practicing Han Mu Do
In Han Mu Do training, there are 12 ranks. There is a test for every time someone wishes to move up a rank. Our Han Mu Do classes are open to students 16 years of age or older. We offer a Han Mu Do class once a week. You can expect to learn techniques such as takedowns, strikes, kicks, throws, and joint locks in the class. You will also learn philosophical concepts that will bring benefits to the mat and in life.
